NASA's Mission on Storytelling

Nearly all of us look at the sky wondering what the realm beyond the clouds holds for us, but have you ever thought how we look from up there? Well, a picture by NASA is all you need to see.

We spend our lives evaluating a nation’s economic prosperity based on its GDP, but turns out light pollution can tell a far better story for most countries. It can help in gaining a better understanding of the current developments and conflicts underway.

The amount of light pollution is most severe in heavily populated areas and highly developed regions. However, not everything is merry. The black pixels, seen from up there, say a lot more than the lit ones.

Though the man-drawn borders can’t be seen during the day from out there, they become absurdly apparent during the night.

Artificial, right? Want to know how one NASA image can tell dozens of stories?
